  • Installation Procedure

    Note on Freshly Painted Surfaces

When installing WX3 corner guards with double sided tape over freshly painted surfaces be sure to follow all of the paint manufactures requirements on drying and curing time as it relates to the environment of the building. Some paints may take up to 2 weeks to fully cure. Applying a double sided tape corner guard over paint that has not fully cured can cause damage to the paint and wall finish should you decide to remove the corner guard at any point.

Corner Guards with Holes and Screws or Nails

    1. Wall surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust and grease. Wipe the wall surface with a solvent to assure all grease, dust and dirt are removed. Make sure that the cleaning solvent used will not damage the finish on the wall surface.
    2. If required, cut corner guard to required length, ensuring that all cuts are square and burr free.
    3. For 3/4” wing corner guards
Place in desired location, hold the corner guard firmly. Using factory supplied nails, hammer the nail through the corner guard into the wall.
      For 1-1/8” - 3” wing corner guards
Place in desired location, hold the corner guard firmly. Attach the corner guard by placing the provided self tapping screws in the pre-drilled counter sunk holes and attach to the wall.

Corner Guards with Double Sided Tape

    3. Peel off backing tape from one wing entirely, then peel back the tape partially on the second wing. Place wing with the fully exposed tape to the wall, then remove the remainder of the tape backing from the second wing. Press firmly along the entire length of the corner protector to ensure a good bond.

Note: Self-adhesive corner guards are easy to install, but will break down in high traffic areas more quickly than a corner guard that is fastened with holes and screws.

    Using Adhesive

  • FAQ

What material is used for textured vinyl corner guards?

Wallprotex produces vinyl corner guards from top UL fire-rated material.

What kind of tape is used on the vinyl corner guards?

The vinyl corner guards use a double sided rubber based foam adhesive with a thickness of 1/32".

What types/size of fasteners are included if I selected 'With Fasteners' as my installation method?

3/4" Size - The 3/4" corner guards do not come with pre-drilled holes due to their size. Instead, included are 1" long finish drive nails. These are designed to be driven easily directly through the corner guard and provide a finished look.

What's the difference between polycarbonate and vinyl materials?

The polycarbonate material has a smooth, glossy finish, and the vinyl material is textured with more of a matte finish.

What's the difference between the Economy color palette and the other color palettes?

For all vinyl products there are 10 Standard Economy colors available. These 10 colors represent the most common and most readily available color options. Polycarbonate products are only available in clear and the 10 polycarbonate colors. All vinyl colors in palettes B, C, D, and Wildwood are considered specialty colors and are made-to-order.

Will the color fade over time?

All plastic has a tendency to fade with age. Our materials contain a UV inhibitor to help slow this process. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight will dramatically intensify the discoloration.

Do you offer custom color matching?

Yes, we are able to match your custom color. The requirements for a custom color match vary depending on the production line, quantity, and desired lead time. Contact Customer Service for more information.
