    Raw Materials

Polycarbonate is one of the most impact-resistant plastics available. Wallprotex utilizes this material to create nearly unbreakable corner guards that will not shatter upon impact.

  • Installation Procedure

    Note on Freshly Painted Surfaces

When installing WX2 corner guards with double sided tape over freshly painted surfaces be sure to follow all of the paint manufactures requirements on drying and curing time as it relates to the environment of the building. Some paints may take up to 2 weeks to fully cure. Applying a double sided tape corner guard over paint that has not fully cured can cause damage to the paint and wall finish should you decide to remove the corner guard at any point.

Corner Guards with Holes and Screws or Nails

    1. Wall surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust and grease. Wipe the wall surface with a solvent to assure all grease, dust and dirt are removed. Make sure that the cleaning solvent used will not damage the finish on the wall surface.
    2. For 3/4” wing corner guards
Place in desired location, hold the corner guard firmly. Using factory supplied nails, hammer the nail through the corner guard into the wall.
      For 1-1/8” - 3” wing corner guards
Place in desired location, hold the corner guard firmly. Attach the corner guard by placing the provided self tapping screws in the pre-drilled counter sunk holes and attach to the wall.

Corner Guards with Double Sided Tape

    1. Wall surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust and grease. Wipe the wall surface with a solvent to assure all grease, dust and dirt are removed. Make sure that the cleaning solvent used will not damage the finish on the wall surface.
    2. Peel off backing tape from one wing entirely, then peel back the tape partially on the second wing. Place wing with the fully exposed tape to the wall, then remove the remainder of the tape backing from the second wing. Press firmly along the entire length of the corner protector to ensure a good bond.

Note: Self-adhesive corner guards are easy to install, but will break down in high traffic areas more quickly than a corner guard that is fastened with holes and screws.

    Cleaning Instructions

    • For best results, the use of liquid cleaners such as 409®, fantastik®, Mr. Clean®, etc. are recommended. The use of powder cleansers is not recommended, use of such cleaners can leave residue which is difficult to remove.
    • Do not use chlorinated or aromatic hydrocarbons, esters or ketones to clean Wallprotex vinyl products. Avoid the use of heavy degreasers, compounds containing surfactants, and abrasive compounds or cleaning devices.
  • Please Note

Due to the durability of the material, Wallprotex does not advise cutting down polycarbonate corner guards with any kind of powered saw. Though not optimal for a clean cut, a hacksaw can be used if needed. However, Wallprotex offers the added benefit of ordering custom length parts, as the corner guards can be cut to special lengths in-line upon request.

  • FAQ

What is the difference between the Economy color palette and the other color palettes?

For all vinyl products there are 10 Standard Economy colors available. These 10 colors represent the most common and most readily available color options. Polycarbonate products are only available in clear and the 10 polycarbonate colors. All vinyl colors in palettes B,C,D, and Wildwood are considered specialty colors and are made-to-order.

Can I cut the polycarbonate corner guards down?

While it is possible, it is very difficult. We recommend ordering a custom size.

What kind of tape is used on the polycarbonate corner guards?

The polycarbonate corner guards use a clear acrylic double sided adhesive with a clear PET film liner. The tape used on all polycarbonate corner guards is much thinner than the foam tape and used on the vinyl corner guards in order to maintain clarity for clear corner guard installations.

What's the difference between polycarbonate and vinyl materials?

The polycarbonate material has a smooth, glossy finish, and the vinyl material is textured with more of a matte finish.
What type/size of fasteners are included if I select 'With Fasteners' as my installation method?
3/4" Size – The 3/4" corner guards do not come with pre-drilled holes due to their size. Instead, included are 1" long finish drive nails. These are designed to be driven easily directly through the corner guard and provide a finished look. All other sizes – All sizes except 3/4" come with pre-drilled countersunk holes. We include #6 x 1" long nickel plated Phillips-head screws. These are course-thread finish screws intended for installation into drywall.
